Compare MAP with different VFD dates

In this exercise we will see differences when changing VFD (Valid from date) on topics and MAPs.

  1. Select your MAP called 'My first MAP' and print it again. Keep the PDF window open for the following steps.

  2. Go back to Kentucky, make sure your MAP is still selected. Select the Properties (Area 5) and then the main properties panel. Set the Valid From Date to one week back.

  3. Print your MAP again and watch the PDF. Note that nothing has changed .. This is because you selected the IE level of the map and not a specific version. In this state only a manual filter is considered and we have not set any yet.

  4. Select version 2.0 of your topic named 'My first topic'. Select the Properties (Area 5) and then the main properties panel. Make sure the Valid From Date is set to today, if not change it.

  5. Select version 1.0 of your topic named 'My first topic'. Select the Properties (Area 5) and then the main properties panel. Set the Valid From Date to one week back.

  6. Select version 1.0 of your MAP and print it again. Now version 1.0 of your topic should be included. This is because when an IE version is printed, all settings will be considered which is set on your MAP and not the manual filter. Since your MAP has VFD set to one week back, all included topics and segments must also be set to that date (or earlier). Version 2.0 of your topic is not valid until today and therefore the previous version of that topic is selected instead (1.0). If you had many more version than two, same process would go through them all until a matching version is found. If no version at all is matching, it is exluded from the MAP when creating the PDF.
